PROPER TATTOO AFTERCARE IS CRUCIAL FOR PROPER HEALING AND TO ENSURE THE LONGEVITY OF YOUR ARTWORK.  TATTOOS ARE EXPECTED TO BE COMPLETELY HEALED IN 3-4 WEEKS.

DAY 1

  1. Wash hands upon arriving at home.

  2. Remove sterile bandages within 2 hours of leaving the studio.  It is not necessary to apply another bandage.

  3. Gently wash the tattoo using mild soap with just your fingertips.  Do NOT use a washcloth.  Rinse tattoo with warm water for 10 minutes (at least).  Do not repeat this step after the first day.

  4. Apply Lubriderm Lotion or A&D Ointment very lightly throughout the healing process.  Apply 5-6 times per day until your tattoo is completely healed.

**Important:  Make sure your hands and tattoo are cleaned before
    applying ointment.

REST OF HEALING PROCESS

  1. Wash tattoo regularly with cool water, blot dry and apply the recommended lotion or ointment.

  2. Approximately 2 days after you receive your tattoo, a protective scab will form.  DO NOT PICK, SCRATCH OR OTHERWISE TAMPER WITH THE SCAB.  It is there for your protection and will fall off on its own within 7-10 days.  It is likely that your tattoo will itch during the healing process.  AGAIN . . DO NOT SCRATCH!

  3. Aside from when briefly cleaning the tattoo, keep tattoo away from water as much as possible during the healing process.

       • DO NOT LET WATER FROM THE SHOWER DIRECTLY HIT YOUR TATTOO.

       • DO NOT SOAK IN A HOT TUB OR BATH TUB DURING THE HEALING PROCESS.

  4. Keep your tattoo out of the sun and out of tanning beds during the healing process.

  5. Do not let the tattoo be exposed to dirt, grease, sand, oil or any unclean surfaces.

  6. Do not wear nylons or pantyhose over a healing tattoo, this can cause
    infection.
